Project Detail

Ichalkaranji is a city in Kolhapur District of Maharashtra state, having a population of about 0.29 million (as per 2011 estimate). Ichalkaranji Municipal Council (IMC) is responsible for providing urban services within city limits. Under the UIDSSMT scheme of Government of India, IMC is implementing a water supply project and is additionally constructing a WTP of 54 Mld capacity and rehabilitation and modification and existing 54 Mld WP, storage reservoirs, and distribution network in the city. IMC is keen to undertake a project for reducing NRW through 100% metering and operations & maintenance of the water supply system on PPP framework Potentially, the system may later be developed as a 24×7 supply system. The Asian Development Bank (ADB) funded the project vide TA7152-IND (PPP Pilot Projects Initiative) is faalitating the Government of India (GoI) with a Technical Assistance (TA) program named ‘Pilot Projects Initiative’ for Mainstreaming PPPs in India. The objective of the TA is to develop pilot PPP projects, selected jointly by ADB and the GoI executing agency for the TA, Department of Economic Affairs (DEA). The modality of the TA is to commission a team of Transaction Advisors, who would structure the identified PPP projects from concept development to bidding on an optimal PPP format.
