Project Detail

Nagpur City is centrally located in India and it is the second capital of Maharashtra State. Presently the city has a population of 2.5 million and it is supplied with 470 MLD of water from different sources. The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) manages City Water Supply and Waste Water collection and disposal so also Solid Waste Management within corporation limits having an area of 217.56 sq.km. In view of the prospective population of the city and the water demand thereof the Nagpur Municipal Corporation has contemplated to take-up Augmentation to Nagpur Water Supply Scheme (Pench-IV) immediately for which Pench reservoir at Navegaon Khairy is already identified as source in view of the existing reservation in the Pench reservoir for 532 Mkl sufficient upto year 2011 of Master Plan. The main objectives of Pench-IV scheme are (i) To enhance the Water availability for Nagpur City to meet the water requirement of population within Nagpur City. (ii) Expedite the Muti-Modal International Hub Airport Nagpur (MIHAN) project, a prestigious project for the Nagpur City and (iii) Conserve water losses through canal which at present is about 30°/o. The initial capital cost of the above project is approx Rs. 4741.40 Million. M/s Shah Technical Consultant Pvt. Ltd., Mumbai with Joint Venture with M/s Dinesh Rathi & Associates, Nagpur is consultant to NMC for The Preparation of Detailed Project Report (DPR) for Pench Phase-III, Stage-II (Pench-IV) Scheme and Augmentation of Nagpur City Water Supply Scheme. Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT) has been approved of the scheme by NMC for technical scrutiny and clearance to designs.
